Welcome to PCOS Evolved! If you have found this blog, it's because more than likely you, or a fabulous woman you love has been recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Although it can be confusing, overwhelming, and at times perhaps devastating, I'm here to tell you that it is absolutely possible to live a happy and healthy life. I'm not a physician, I'm just an ordinary woman who has battled with PCOS and has overcome a lot of the obstacles that comes along with the diagnosis of PCOS. I too was once overwhelmed, devastated and consumed with anxiety over a diagnosis I had never heard about. I was told I would never be able to lose weight so it was best to just have bariatric surgery. I was told I had diabetes and that I would never have children. At the time of my diagnosis, I had just suffered a miscarriage a year before so I was receiving answers I didn't have at the time of the miscarriage, but it didn't make me feel any better. While all those things may be true for many of us, we should not throw our arms in the air and say "well, that's it, life is over." No! We have the power to take control of our health. To take control and decide the quality of our life. We can change the course of our fate. We can become the PCOS fighter and not the PCOS victim. We can overcome it. We can evolve. Will it be easy? No. Will it be worth it? Absolutely!
Throughout this blog, you will find links to studies on PCOS. I will provide you with tips and information that you can share with your medical team for the healthiest outcome and results for you. There hasn't been much research done on PCOS and that is something that definitely needs to change. Unfortunately, it's a complicated condition that even medical professionals have a hard time understanding. Much of the information out there comes from women like myself who suffer from PCOS. Women who refuse to give up and have decided to help educate and empower other women with PCOS. But if we voice our concerns to our medical teams, then together we can come up with solutions to live our lives the best way possible.
Once again, welcome to PCOS Evolved! I am so excited to get to know all of you and share this journey of regaining control of our lives!
